Grants are made to charitable organizations with the major emphasis on projects and programs in the areas of education, health care, religion, social welfare and the arts. The Foundation's geographical area of interest relates to charitable organizations located in Northwestern Ontario. Exceptions to this policy may be made on a very limited basis.
Grants may not be made to individuals due to government regulations. Organizations which do not possess a registration number from Revenue Canada are also exempt. It is rare that the Foundation will consider a grant for deficit financing.
The Foundation requires the applicant to fill out an "Application for Grant" form. Before this form is sent out to the applicant the following is required:
- Letter of appeal on letterhead or stationery containing name, address, telephone number and contact person;
- A brief description of the organization's history, objectives and activities;
- A brief description of programme or project for which funding is requested;
- Charitable Registration Number

There are no deadlines for application to the Foundation, however the applicant should note that the Foundation meets twice each calendar year. The Foundation normally meets in June and December to review applications and suggests that applicants submit completed "Application for Grant" forms well in advance.
The final decision on all applications is made by the Board of Directors.
